A quantitative approach with a comparative research design was chosen to answer the research objectives. A total of 379 active students participated in this study, selected using accidental sampling. Data were obtained using a student engagement scale and analysed using ANOVA. The results of the study found that: 1) There was no difference in student engagement based on gender (significance value = 0.400). 2) There was a significant difference in student engagement based on academic year (significance value = 0.001); further analysis showed that first-year students had the highest mean score compared to students in higher years. From these results, it can be concluded that there was no difference in student engagement by gender, whereas by academic year, there was a significant difference. This study provides new insights into the factors of gender and academic year that can impact student engagement. It is hoped that future studies can conduct in-depth analysis using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) on related variables and involve a more diverse range of subjects.</p> Muhammad Fadhli Zesi Aprillia Ridzqie Dibyantari ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2025-12-31 2025-12-31 6 2 73 87 10.21093/tj.v6i2.10545 Social Stigma and Resilience of Banjarmasin Correctional Centre Clients https://journal.uinsi.ac.id/index.php/TAUJIHAT/article/view/11279 <p>The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of social stigma on the resilience of Banjarmasin Class 1 Correctional Centre clients. The researcher used a quantitative correlational research method. Respondents in this study were 100 people selected using a purposive sampling technique, with the criterion that clients had undergone mandatory reporting at the Bapas for approximately 1 week to 4 months. The research instrument used the Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale (CD-RISC-25) and the Perceived Social Stigmatisation Scale (STS). The research data were analysed using simple linear regression in JASP 0.18.3. The analysis showed no effect of social stigma on resilience (t = 3.88, p = 0.89), thereby rejecting the hypothesis. This finding indicates that although Bapas clients still face social stigma, this condition does not directly weaken the client's ability to recover, adapt, and maintain healthy psychological functioning. The implications of this research contribute to social psychology studies, providing insight into the dynamics of resilience during social transition. Social stigma does not always function as a risk factor that weakens resilience. The presence of social stigma will only affect individuals if they interpret it negatively.</p> Nur Syifa Gladis Corinna Marsha Dyta Setiawati Hariyono ##submission.copyrightStatement## 2025-12-31 2025-12-31 6 2 88 102 10.21093/tj.v6i2.11279
