STRATEGI PANGLIMA AWANG LONG MENGHADAPI IMPREALISME DAN KOLONIALISME KERAJAAN ISLAM KUTAI KARTANEGARA

Abstract

Awang  Long  (Ario  Senopati)  has  set  a  right  strategy  to
maintain Tenggarong city as a kingdom city. At that time Awang Long has surely predicted that sooner or later the British fleet will come and take vengeance to  redeem  their  defeat  in  the event that  happened in February 1844. Awang Long helped by Bugisnese tribe in Samarinda Seberang and stayed in Pemarangan preparing barricades, making big logs that is deliberately cut to obstruct the enemy vessel in the river.
Added by the branch of tree that is pointed and arranged as a float raft that can be pulled to the edge or to the center of the river anytime. Then there is the making of fortress wall along Tenggarong city, start from Kampung Melayu to Kampung Sukaramai is built a stone wall and is strengthened by a mast ironwood that is 4 meters high and a half meter of thickness. In the strategic part there is a cannon leads to the river. Awang  Long  troops  also  built  a  post  of  defense  around  Biru  hill,
Mahulu  hill  and  Kampung  Teriti,  is  strengthened  by  the  moveable cannon using wheel. The defense in Mahulu is very strong that Sultan Salehuddin  and  family  are  backward  to  Kota  Bangun.  So,  one  of strategy or tactic that is applied by Awang Long is so right, he avoided many victims of innocent people, by a solution to evacuate his people and the kingdom apparatus to Kota Bangun, so that could be far from the  subjugate  of  Netherland  troops  that  is  known  as  cruel.  Kutai kingdom troops deliberately fired the raft houses along the Mahakam River so that the Netherland troops could not landed at Tenggarong beach.
