Plagiarism and Artificial Intelligence Checking

Manuscripts submitted to Jurnal Tarbiyah dan Ilmu Keguruan Borneo (JTIK Borneo) will be checked for originality using Turnitin and web-based search engines, while AI-generated content will be checked using the QuillBot AI Detector for manuscripts in Bahasa Indonesia and Turnitin AI writing detection for manuscripts in English. As a general guideline, we expect a similarity index of no more than 25% (excluding the bibliography, quotations, and standard formulas used in the research method) and an AI writing score of no more than 30%.

Manuscripts that exceed these limits will usually be returned to the authors for revision before the review process. These scores are used as a guide rather than the only basis for decisions, as the editor will also consider the context, the author’s Declaration of Generative AI Use, and the overall quality of the manuscript. Depending on the level of originality, the editor may forward the manuscript to peer review, return it to the authors for revision, or decline it.
