Author Guidelines

Jurnal Tarbiyah dan Ilmu Keguruan Borneo (JTIK Borneo)

Authors must prepare their manuscripts using the JTIK Borneo manuscript template [Download Template]. Manuscripts that do not follow the template will be returned to the authors before the review process.

1. Submission Requirements

  • The manuscript is an original work that has not been published and is not under consideration for publication in any other journal or proceedings.
  • The manuscript is a research article (empirical or conceptual) that falls within the Focus and Scope of JTIK Borneo.
  • The manuscript is written in Bahasa Indonesia or English, following the standards of scientific writing.
  • Manuscripts are submitted only through the online submission system (OJS) of JTIK Borneo. Authors must register and log in before submitting. Submissions sent by email will not be processed.
  • The manuscript is uploaded in Microsoft Word format (.doc/.docx).
  • The similarity index (plagiarism check) of the manuscript must not exceed the limit stated on the Plagiarism Checking page.

2. General Format

  • Paper size A4; margins: top 3 cm, bottom 2.5 cm, left 2.5 cm, right 2.5 cm.
  • Main text: Arial, 12 pt, single spacing, first-line paragraph indent.
  • Manuscript length: 5,000–8,000 words, including references.
  • Section headings are written in bold and numbered with capital letters (A, B, C, …); sub-headings are numbered with Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3, …).

3. Manuscript Structure

  1. Title: Arial 14 pt, bold, capitalize each word, maximum 15 words. The title must be concise, informative, and reflect the main variables or focus of the study.
  2. Author names and affiliations: full author names without academic titles (Arial 10 pt), followed by affiliations (Study Program, Faculty, University, City, Country). Include the email address of the corresponding author (marked with *) 
  3. Abstract: written in Bahasa Indonesia and English, 150–250 words each, Arial 10 pt (the English abstract in italics). The abstract briefly presents the background and objective, method, main findings (with concrete results or key figures), and conclusion or contribution of the study. The abstract must not contain citations, tables, figures, or undefined abbreviations.
  4. Keywords: 3–5 words or phrases, in Bahasa Indonesia and English, separated by semicolons.
  5. Introduction: presents the background of the study based on empirical facts, the urgency of the problem, a review of previous studies, the research gap, and the objective of the study. The introduction must end with an explicit novelty statement explaining how this study differs from previous research.
  6. Literature Review (optional): presents relevant theories and previous studies critically and synthetically. This section may be merged into the Introduction.
  7. Research Method: describes the research design, time and place of the study, participants and sampling technique, instruments (including validity and reliability where relevant), data collection procedures, and data analysis techniques in sufficient detail to allow replication. Quantitative studies report assumption tests, statistical tests, significance level, and effect size; qualitative studies describe the analysis stages and data trustworthiness techniques (e.g., triangulation, member checking).
  8. Results: presents the findings objectively according to the research objectives, supported by tables and/or figures. 
  9. Discussion: interprets the findings, relates them to theory and previous studies, explains the novelty, implications, and limitations of the study, and suggests directions for future research. 
  10. Conclusion: answers the research objectives concisely and presents implications and recommendations. The conclusion is written in paragraph form (not bullet points) and contains no citations.
  11. Author Statements: placed after the Conclusion and before the References, consisting of: Author Contributions (CRediT taxonomy, using author initials), Funding, Acknowledgments, Conflict of Interest, Ethics Statement, Declaration of Generative AI Use, and Data Availability. All sub-sections must be present; write the "not applicable" statement provided in the template where relevant.
  12. References: see Section 5.

4. Tables and Figures

  • Tables and figures are numbered consecutively (Table 1, Figure 1) and must be referred to and explained in the text.
  • Table titles are placed above the table; figure titles are placed below the figure (Arial 10 pt, bold).
  • Tables follow APA style without vertical lines. Notes and sources are written below the table.
  • Figures must be clear and have a minimum resolution of 300 dpi; the source is written below the figure title. Photographs must be original research documentation, and the faces of minors must be blurred or published only with parental/guardian consent.

5. Citations and References

  • Citations and references follow the APA Style 7th edition (author–date system), e.g., (Zhao & Watterston, 2021) or Zhao and Watterston (2021). For three or more authors, use "et al." from the first citation. Multiple sources in one parenthesis are ordered alphabetically and separated by semicolons.
  • Every in-text citation must appear in the reference list, and every reference must be cited in the text.
  • It is recommended to use reference management software, such as Mendeley or Zotero.
  • Manuscripts must include at least 25 references, of which at least 80% are primary sources (journal articles) published within the last 10 years, including reputable international journals.
  • Article titles are written in sentence case; journal names and volume numbers are italicized; DOIs are written in full as https://doi.org/… whenever available.

6. Research Ethics and Use of AI

  • Research involving human participants must obtain permission from the relevant institution and voluntary consent from participants; for participants under 18 years old, consent must also be obtained from parents/guardians. Participants' identities must be kept confidential.
  • Generative AI tools cannot be listed as authors. Any use of generative AI in preparing the manuscript must be stated in the Declaration of Generative AI Use; authors remain fully responsible for the content of the manuscript.

7. Copyright and License

Articles published in JTIK Borneo are open access under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International (CC BY-NC-SA 4.0).
