Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to comprehensively examine the impact of individual aspects on second language (L2) acquisition. The effectiveness of the teaching and learning process is significantly influenced by the cognitive, emotional, and motivational traits of learners. This study, based on chapter 10 of Rod Ellis's book Language Teaching Research and Language Pedagogy, seeks to investigate how elements such as language aptitude, working memory, language anxiety, and willingness to speak influence the effectiveness of teaching in second language (L2) learning. This study employs a qualitative methodology utilizing a literature review approach. Data is gathered and examined using content analysis techniques based on the Krippendorf framework. The study findings suggest that these individual variables have a major impact on learners' reactions to teaching, as well as the specific learning outcomes attained, particularly in certain instructional circumstances. These findings highlight the significance of an individualized pedagogical approach, wherein educators must take into account the distinctive attributes of each student in order to maximize the learning process and attain superior outcomes in second language acquisition.
