Abstract

Conflict originates from differences that develop in society. These differences include: gender, ethnicity, nation, culture, social and economic strata, politics, religion, and beliefs, including sects in religion. This study aims to determine the resolution of conflicts caused by differences in khilafiah between Sunni and Wahhabi schools in East Lombok, Indonesia. This research uses a qualitative approach. Researchers obtain both primary and secondary data related to the problem by going directly to the research object (field research). Data collection techniques used include:Observation, Interview and Documentation. As for qualitative data analysis in this study using the flow model according toMiles and Huberman. The results of the study show that there are differences between the Sunni and Wahhabi schools of thought that developed in the village of Bebidas, Wanasaba, East Lombok, where each school has adherents who both believe in the truth of the understanding and practice of their respective religions. This difference in understanding and practice of religion is the source of conflict. Conflict resolution is needed in order to find solutions so that conflicts can be avoided or at least minimized so that they don't get to the physical side. Among other things by way of negotiation, mediation, arbitration, and handling by the local village government. Besides that, efforts were also made to overcome the conflict by expanding the tolerance limit between the parties involved in the conflict. This finding also has implications for conflicts originating from other differences that develop in society. Researchers also recommend the importance of conducting research with different scientific perspectives.
