Lentera: Jurnal Ilmu Dakwah dan Komunikasi has undergone several changes related to several aspects, which can be seen in detail as follows:

2002, Lentera: Jurnal Ilmu Dakwah dan Komunikasi started for the first time as printed version at the Samarinda State Islamic College until 2016

2017, Lentera: Jurnal Ilmu Dakwah dan Komunikasi limited its scope and started using Online Journal System with new template (https://garuda.kemdikbud.go.id/journal/view/10303)

2019, Lentera: Jurnal Ilmu Dakwah dan Komunikasi accredited Sinta 3 by Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Technology

2021, this journal has exclusively published all papers in English. The change to the use of the English language aims to improve its international audiences so that the publication is expected to engage more global readership and authorship.

2023, under new management, we did some alterations in order to make improvements, such as:
1. used a new template with some changes to the previous template
2. added several displays on the front page and sidebar of its website including on the website header and journal cover
