6. Open Access Policy

AL-TIJARY is a fully open access journal. All articles are freely available online immediately upon publication, with no subscription fees, no registration requirements, and no embargo period. This follows the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global exchange of knowledge.

Readers may read, download, copy, print, search, and link to the full text of articles, provided that the original work is properly cited. Reuse is permitted under the terms of the license in Section 7.

The journal charges no fees for reading or downloading articles. Information on publication fees for authors is available on the Article Processing Charge page.

7. License

All articles published in AL-TIJARY are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License (CC BY-NC 4.0).

Creative Commons License CC BY-NC 4.0

Under this license, anyone may:

  • Share: copy and redistribute the article in any medium or format;
  • Adapt: remix, transform, and build upon the article.

These rights are subject to two conditions:

  • Attribution: appropriate credit must be given to the authors and to AL-TIJARY as the original place of publication, a link to the license must be provided, and any changes must be indicated.
  • NonCommercial: the material may not be used for commercial purposes. Commercial reuse requires written permission from the copyright holder.

Authors retain the copyright of their work. Further details are given in the journal's Copyright Notice.

8. Digital Archiving

AL-TIJARY is committed to the long-term preservation of, and continued access to, everything it publishes. Its archiving arrangements are designed so that published articles remain available even if the journal ceases publication, changes platform, or its website becomes unavailable.

8.1 Digital Preservation Systems

  • LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe): the journal permits the LOCKSS system to collect, preserve, and serve its content, creating a distributed archive among participating libraries. See the LOCKSS Publisher Manifest.
  • CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS): the journal permits the CLOCKSS system to ingest, preserve, and serve its content as a dark archive, which is made openly available if the content is no longer accessible from the publisher. See the CLOCKSS Publisher Manifest.

8.2 Institutional Storage

All articles, issue files, and metadata are stored on the Open Journal Systems (OJS) server of Universitas Islam Negeri Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris Samarinda. The server is managed by the university, which maintains regular backups of the journal's database and files.

8.3 Additional Copies and Indexing

  • Garuda (Garba Rujukan Digital): article metadata and full-text files are made available through Garuda, the national scholarly database of Indonesia.
  • DOAJ: article metadata is deposited in the Directory of Open Access Journals, with links to the full text.

8.4 Persistent Identifiers

Every published article is assigned a Digital Object Identifier (DOI) registered with Crossref. The DOI provides a permanent link that continues to resolve to the article even if its web address changes.

8.5 Archived Format and Version

Articles are archived in PDF format as the final published version (version of record). Once published, an article is not altered; any change is made through a published correction or retraction notice, as described in Section 4.

8.6 Self-Archiving by Authors

Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit the published version of their article in institutional or subject repositories, with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in AL-TIJARY, in accordance with the journal's Copyright Notice and License.

8.7 Responsibility

The Managing Editors are responsible for ensuring that each published issue is properly archived and that the journal's preservation arrangements remain active.

The journal is managed by an editorial team formally appointed by the Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Economics and Business. The team consists of:

10. Manuscript Types

AL-TIJARY accepts the following types of manuscripts, provided they fall within the journal's Focus and Scope:

  1. Research Article: an original empirical study, using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods, that presents new findings and makes a clear contribution to the field.
  2. Review Article: a systematic review, bibliometric analysis, or structured literature review that synthesizes existing research and identifies gaps and directions for future research. The review method must be described clearly.
  3. Conceptual Paper: a theoretical or conceptual study that develops, critiques, or extends concepts, models, or frameworks, supported by a strong review of the relevant literature.
  4. Case Study: an in-depth analysis of a specific institution, practice, policy, or phenomenon that offers lessons or insights relevant to theory or practice.

All manuscript types:

  • must be original and must not have been published or be under consideration elsewhere;
  • may be written in English or Indonesian;
  • should be between 5,000 and 10,000 words, including tables and figures;
  • must follow the journal's Author Guidelines and article template;
  • go through the same double-blind peer review process described in Section 12.

11. Publication Schedule

AL-TIJARY is published twice a year:

  • Number 1: published in December;
  • Number 2: published in June.

Each volume consists of two numbers. Manuscripts may be submitted at any time throughout the year. Accepted manuscripts are scheduled for the next available issue, in the order in which they are accepted, subject to the editor's decision.

All published issues are available on the Archives page.

12. Peer Review Process

AL-TIJARY uses a double-blind peer review system: the identities of the authors and the reviewers are concealed from each other throughout the review process. Each manuscript is reviewed by at least two reviewers with expertise in the subject of the manuscript.

12.1 Review Stages

  1. Initial screening. The editor checks whether the manuscript fits the journal's Focus and Scope, follows the Author Guidelines and template, and meets the similarity requirement (a Turnitin similarity index of no more than 25%). Manuscripts that do not meet these requirements may be returned to the authors or rejected without review.
  2. Reviewer assignment. The editor assigns at least two reviewers who have relevant expertise and no conflict of interest with the authors (see Section 2).
  3. Peer review. Reviewers assess the manuscript's originality, relevance, methodological rigor, clarity of argument, quality of analysis, and contribution to the field, and give a recommendation to the editor.
  4. Editorial decision. Based on the reviewers' reports, the editor makes one of the following decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Decline. When the reviewers' recommendations differ significantly, the editor may invite an additional reviewer.
  5. Revision. Authors revise the manuscript according to the reviewers' comments and submit it with a response explaining how each comment was addressed, within the time specified by the editor. Revised manuscripts may be sent back to the reviewers for further assessment.
  6. Final decision. The final decision to accept or reject a manuscript is made by the Editor-in-Chief.
  7. Production. Accepted manuscripts go through copyediting, layout, and proofreading by the authors before publication.

12.2 Review Time

The review process, from submission to the first decision, generally takes 4 to 8 weeks. The total time to publication depends on the extent of revision required and on the publication schedule.

12.3 Appeals

Authors who believe a decision was based on a factual error or misunderstanding may appeal by emailing the editor at jurnal.altijary@uinsi.ac.id, stating clear reasons. Appeals are considered by the Editor-in-Chief, whose decision is final.
