Focus and Scope

Borneo International Journal of Islamic Studies (BIJIS) focuses on the interdisciplinary publication of original research on Islamic Studies. The journal aims to provide research articles, original research reports, reviews, and scientific commentaries on Islamic studies. This includes library and fieldwork investigations from various perspectives on law, economy, politics, philosophy, history, art, sociology, anthropology, and Islamic discourse.

 

Peer Review Process

The journal uses a double-blind system for peer review, and the identities of reviewers and authors remain anonymous. The paper will be peer-reviewed by two experts: one outside reviewer and one editor from the journal, typically involved in reviewing submissions.

The journal will screen the paper for plagiarism using Google Scholar Check and Turnitin.

Open Access Policy

This journal provides immediate open access to its content on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports a greater global knowledge exchange.

Publication Ethics

Borneo International Journal of Islamic Studies (BIJIS) is an academic Journal published by the Center for Research and Community Services of the Sultan Aji Muhammad Idris State Islamic University of Samarinda, Indonesia. It is a peer-reviewed open-access journal in the field of Islamic Studies. The publication of an article in Borneo International Journal of Islamic Studies (BIJIS) is an essential building block in the development of a respected network of knowledge. It directly reflects the quality of the authors' work and the institutions that support them. Peer-reviewed articles support and embody the scientific method. It is important to agree upon standards of expected ethical behavior for all parties involved in the act of publishing: the author, the journal editors, the peer reviewers, and the publisher.

 

AUTHORS

Reporting Standard

Authors must present the original manuscript, not published in any form, and not submit the same article to other journals until the publisher answers the feasibility of the manuscript. Authors should provide accurate and accountable research data. Authors must cite the sources appropriately by considering the manuscript's content in written publications or personal interviews.

 

Originality dan plagiarism

The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others, that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
An author should not generally publish manuscripts describing the same research in multiple journals or primary publications. Submitting the same manuscript to multiple journals concurrently constitutes unacceptable publishing behavior.

 

Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to those who have contributed significantly to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported research. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where others have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors. The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included in the paper and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

 

Data Access and Retention

Authors may be asked to provide the raw data in connection with a paper for editorial review. In any event, they should be prepared to retain such data for a reasonable time after publication.

 

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest

All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published works

When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her published work, the author should promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper. Suppose the editor or the publisher learns from a third party that a published work contains a significant error. In that case, the author should promptly retract or correct the paper or provide evidence to the editor of the correctness of the original paper.

 

EDITORS

The editor of the Borneo International Journal of Islamic Studies is responsible for deciding which articles to publish. The validation of the work in question and its importance to researchers and readers must always drive such decisions. The editors may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by any legal requirements regarding libel, copyright infringement, and plagiarism that are then in force. The editors may confer with other editors or reviewers when making this decision.

 

Fair Play
An editor evaluates manuscripts for their intellectual content at any time without regard to the author's race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy.

Confidentiality
The editors and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in editors' own research without the author's express written consent.

 

REVIEWERS

Contribution to Editorial Decisions

Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and, through editorial communications with the author, may also help the author improve the quality of a paper.

Promptness
Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editors and excuse himself from the review process. 

 

Confidentiality

Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

 

Standards of Objectivity

Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. The reviewers should express their views clearly and with supporting rational arguments.

 

Acknowledgment of Sources

Reviewers should identify the source of references that the authors have not cited. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper they know personally.

 

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest

Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts with conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any authors or institutions connected to the papers.

PUBLISHER

The Borneo International Journal of Islamic Studies ensures that commercial interests do not impact or influence editorial decisions. Where this is useful to the authors, the journal will assist in communicating with other journals. The journal works closely with all related divisions to set standards for best practices on ethical matters, errors, and retractions. It is prepared to provide specialized legal review and counsel if necessary.

Borneo International Journal of Islamic Studies (BIJIS) charges the following author fees:

ARTICLE SUBMISSION: 0.00 (IDR)
Authors are NOT REQUIRED to pay an article Submission and Processing Charge. Authors will only be asked to pay the Article Publication fee for an accepted manuscript.

ARTICLE PUBLICATION: 350.000 (IDR)
The fee for publication of original papers in this journal is IDR 350,000 for local authors, and it is currently FREE for authors abroad.

Plagiarism Screening

Manuscripts submitted to Borneo International Journal of Islamic Studies (BIJIS) will be screened for plagiarism using TURNITIN and website-based search engines. It depends on the level of originality and similarities with other documents, such as whether the editor will accept the draft, reject the draft, or manage the draft to the peer-review process.
