General Examination Process Stages
- Initial Assessment: The institution or journal editor examines whether the report has sufficient preliminary evidence and meets the criteria for scientific misconduct.
- Inquiry: The process of gathering initial facts to determine whether there are strong grounds to proceed to a full investigation.
- Formal Investigation: An in-depth, formal evaluation conducted by an independent committee to thoroughly examine all available evidence.
- Adjudication & Sanctions: The determination of the final outcome, which may result in disciplinary action, manuscript retraction, or a formal report to the funding institution.
