New Submission Requirements Starting from Volume 7 Issue 1

Dear Authors,

To strengthen research integrity, publication transparency, and compliance with ethical standards in scholarly publishing, Borneo Journal of Language and Education (BENJOLE) introduces new submission requirements starting from Volume 7 Issue 1.

All authors submitting manuscripts to BENJOLE are required to upload three mandatory documents during the manuscript submission process through the Open Journal Systems (OJS).

The required documents are as follows:

1. Manuscript

Authors must submit the manuscript according to the BENJOLE Author Guidelines and the official manuscript template.

Authors are required to ensure that the manuscript follows all journal requirements, including article structure, formatting, citation style, references, and other submission guidelines.

2. Ethical Clearance

Authors submitting research involving human participants, personal data, or sensitive information are required to provide an Ethical Clearance document issued by an authorized ethics committee or institution.

Ethical Clearance may be obtained from:

  • The ethics committee of the author's affiliated institution;
  • Faculty-level ethics committees;
  • University research institutions such as LPPM/LP2M or equivalent research ethics bodies;
  • Other recognized institutions authorized to issue ethical approval statements.

Authors should obtain ethical approval before conducting research involving human participants.

3. Author Declarations and Transparency Statements

Authors are required to submit an Author Declarations and Transparency Statements document containing important declarations related to research transparency and publication ethics.

The document must include:

  • Title of the manuscript;
  • Author contributions;
  • Data Availability Statement;
  • AI Use Disclosure Statement;
  • Ethical Approval Statement;
  • Funding Statement;
  • Conflict of Interest Statement / Declaration of Interest Statement;
  • Acknowledgements.

For manuscripts with a single author, the declaration must be completed by the author.

For manuscripts with multiple authors, the declaration must be completed and approved by the corresponding author on behalf of all authors, confirming that all information provided has been agreed upon by all authors.

Important Notice

Manuscripts submitted without the required documents may be returned to authors for completion before entering the editorial review process.

Authors are encouraged to prepare all required documents carefully to ensure an efficient submission and review process.
